It has been recently reported that 28 year-old Donte Stallworth has been suspended for the entire 2009 NFL Football Season. The Cleveland Browns wide receiver recently was sentenced to 30 days in prison for DUI including killing a pedestrian with his car. When it was all said and down Donte Stallworth only spent 24 days in prison.

This seems to be a light consequence due to the seriousness of his actions. Michael Vick received two years in prison and was suspended an additional six games for cruelty to dogs among a few other charges. This can be viewed that society values a dog’s life more than a human being. Now, don’t get me wrong cruelty to animals is wrong and should be punishable in court if the act is that harsh; however, a human being was killed by a drunk driver. The average time for this type of crime in Florida is 10 years.

What type of message did the NFL send by only suspending him for one season? In cases like this is really makes you believe that money talks. Included in Stallworth’s sentence was a $10,000 fine, 1000 community service hours, and he drivers license were suspended for life just like he football career should have been.
