“Simplicity is complexity”. Mark Villasenor of Prmtve:Passe sees in garments not only fashion, but an outlet for mental and emotional expression.

Based out of Los Angeles, California Prmtve (pronounced ‘primitive’): Passe is a fashion group that seeks to transcend the art of clothing through the blending of street wear and high-end fashion. Styling photo shoots and providing consulting, the group has established a strong reputation in the west coast as unique fashionistas.  They’ve worked with local LA companies such as Gas’d, styling their lookbook for their new “LOVE” campaign.  They also work as representatives of TI$A – the brand owned by Taz Arnold, stylist and long-time friend of Kanye West.  Though specifically concentrated on fashion, they provide services in anything related to self-expression. “We handle anything within the arts,” says Mark, creator of Prmtve: Passe. “I feel that there are no limitations to things…we style, handle photography, online magazine, music, (and) clothes”. Prmtve: Passe holds strong connections with various west coast musicians.  They were featured on upcoming artist, Jay.K’s video for “Do You”.  Mark also writes for Persona Magazine.  The group will be releasing their clothing line late this summer. Prmtve: Passe was founded in autumn of 2005 by Mark and his sister Rhoxanne. Playing off their trendy fashion sense, the two formed the group, ironically, under their unique philosophical take on what is ‘outdated’ or ‘bad fashion’. “For those who don’t know, ‘passé’ is a term used in high end fashion to describe what’s already been done,” Mark explains, “but our company’s standpoint is that everything we are, is based from the past. Therefore, I use this term as a positive way and produce a new system from an old”. Under this idea, Mark and Prmtve: Passe continue to push their creative agenda attempting to leave an indelible mark not only in a fashion sense, but also in lifestyle. “I hope to provide a new perspective and use the realms of art to push forth on my belief,” says Mark, “I feel that my team and I will be bringing back the life of colors and the love for each piece a person purchases”.
