SUMMER SHADES ‘09

When summer time rolls around there’s one thing that is certain, there will be sun and lots of it! With each year that passes wearing sunglasses is a growing trend in fashion, even at night. Celebrities such as Paris Hilton & Halle Berry have made it a part of their daily appearance to have on some stylish Louis Vuitton or Dolce Gabbana shades. Even though I have a pair of D&G shades, with the recent economic crisis, I have looked to other designers for some quality shades.

Brands like Crooks & Castles, Republica & Oakley have been putting some pretty dope shades out as of late. Asking the question will the less expensive, yet stylish shades become more of the popular eyewear for summer shade consumers?

Last year’s limited edition hit has been restocked and now available for sale. The Mosley Tribes x Crooks & Castles Castellano Sunglasses comes in either black or white. The glasses also feature Crooks detailing on the rear of the glasses, C&C name on the upper ride side of the lenses, and Mosley Tribes name of the inner body towards the hinge of the leg of the glasses.

Paul Smith launches their first sunglass collection with Oakley for Spring/Summer 2009. The result is fresh and fun capsule collection of Frogskin frames in four striking colourways. With a distinct matte rubberized finish, the Oakley Frogskins were first released in 1986 and became a symbol of that decade’s surf and skate culture. The Paul Smith frames reflect their retro origins with their high-voltage colour - pink, purple, blue and an original camo design. The sunglasses are finished with gradient mirrored lenses. Only 500 pairs will be available and limited exclusively to be sold in Paul Smith shops.

REPUBLICA has collaborated with artist Tony Peralta on 3 limited edition sunglasses. As many of you know Tony Peralta is a great friend of the Vault,and they have previously hosted an exhibition of his artwork and he designedtheir classic Untouchable tee shirt.
