CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Gunfire broke out early Wednesday in a street on Canton’s southwest side, killing three people outside a bar where a fight was reported earlier.
The victims were two men and a woman, police said.
One man was found bleeding on the street, was taken by ambulance to Aultman Hospital and died shortly after arriving. The other man and a woman were in a car and dead at the scene.
The victims’ names and ages have not been released. A message was left for Stark County Coroner P.S. Murthy.
Witnesses told police they saw a red pickup truck speeding from the scene.
The bar, called the White Crown Cafe, was closed about 2 a.m. when the shooting occurred, said Police Capt. Bruce Lawver. There had been a fight there earlier.
The bar had closed at 12:45 a.m., manager Darryl Dennis said.
Neighbor Kim Best said she was on her computer when she heard gunfire.
“I looked out and saw a dark colored truck heading south real fast,” she said.
Vince Bassi, who lives above the bar, was frightened by the sound of at least one gun.
“It woke me up and I was ducking,” Bassi said.
