Gone Fishin’
Mixtape MVP team with All-Star “Kids” to deliver championship performance.
Review by DJ Bern

The Cool Kids have been taking hip-hop by storm for a minute with their laid back flows over simplistic vintage beats. Their latest mixtape,“Gone Fishing,” stays consistent with their hits while combining with the voice of the Aphiliates’ own DJ Don Cannon hosting. The end result definitely sounds like championship material.

Right out of the gate the mixtape gives listeners what they need. The first four tracks, especially “Hammer Bros,” have that head banging, laid-back, vintage dopeness that the hip-hop game needs. Other tracks like “The Art of Noise (Interlude)” and “Weekend Love” show diversity and creativity in the talent of the rap duo, for those naysayers that think they can stick The Cool Kids in one trend or format. Definitely listen to “Pennies (The Updated Rosters remix)” with Ludacris and Bun-B; this banger is the highlight of the mixtape.

I suggest you download this mixtape immediately. Don Cannon and The Cool Kids give “Gone Fishing” to those of us looking for something different, but dope, from a mixtape than the usual Wayne or Gucci fix. The Cool Kids show they are playoff worthy, and if this is a preview of the album, they might be ready for the title.
