The word soul is so often used but even more overlooked. Finding someone with soul, (meaning spiritual) doesn’t happen too often. The Philadelphia Eagles, who had a break out and suprising year last season, may have lost thier ‘Soul’ this off-season.

Brain Dawkins has played every single game as a Philadelphia Eagel since he was drafted out of Clemson over 10 years ago. Through those years, he has played one some good teams as well as bad — seen the highs and seen the lows. Me being a Philly fan, I have always paid attention to each player and what they have brought to the table; and, Dawkins always showed and proved himself every week.

Dawkins, who is one of the best safeties to play the game (in my opinion), has always had that fire in his eyes and has had an unwilling-to-quit-attitude that every team needs to succeed. As I started, as I get older I understood that what he has shown is something that not many people have and that is soul.

Dawkins is one of those emotional players, you know the ones — no matter who makes the play for his team, he is always cheering them on and motivating others to do the same. But what I realize is not everyone can be the same, not everyone can have soul.

This off-season has seen some suprise moves by NFL teams, but the biggest suprise to me was for the Eagles to let Brian Dawkins go. They could’ve anted up some more money to keep the 13 year veteran who has been to 7 Pro Bowls throughout his career.

Brian Dawkins is now a Denver Bronco, and it will be interesting to see him play this year. Also, he will get a chance to play on the field against his former team the Eagles this year. I’m sure Dawkins will continue tobe a successful player and spread his soul around the Broncos. The Eagles won’t only have to worry about competing this year they will also have to find their own soul — and like I said before that player with SOUL doesn’t come along all that often.
