Q&A :: FLYPAPER INTERVIEWS MICK BOOGIE

Post by Yummy
Happy Holidays everyone! It’s your girl YummY here to hit you off with another edition of Waxology 101. I started my Christmas shopping this weekend. I sneaked in a couple gifts for myself. I copped that new Ludacris, T.I., T-Pain, and John Legend. None of those compare to Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreak. I haven’t taken that CD out since I got it. It’s not your average Kanye CD, so open your mind.
Also this weekend, I got to chop it up with Ohio’s own DJ Mick Boogie. You may know Mick from Columbus’s Power 107.5 or Cleveland’s Z107.9. Some of you may know that he’s the DJ that keeps the Cleveland Cavaliers pumped at their home games. Mick Boogie is quickly becoming one of the most sought after DJs in the country. He has spun at some of the biggest parties in New York, Chicago and Detroit. At the time of this interview he is preparing for his next event, The Grammy Nomination Gala in Los Angeles.
YummY: Being that you are from Ohio, how did you go from being a local DJ, to becoming one of the hottest spinners in the world?
Mick: Hard work, a lot of networking, a splash of marketing, some creative concepts, some good friends, a decent amount of talent and a lot of God’s blessings…
YummY: Tell me more about The League Crew. Who is involved and what can we expect from the crew?
Mick: Just a bunch of genuinely good people who enjoy good music… no more, no less.
YummY: I know that you have worked with some of the top rappers in the game. Ludacris is my all time favorite. Like yourself, he started as a radio DJ. Did you ever have dreams of becoming a rapper?
Mick: Definitely not. No way in hell…lol.
YummY: With artist like Jay-Z turning to rock and Kanye going techno, what other changes do you see forthcoming for hip-hop?
Mick: Hopefully more progression like that. We need to get away from the snaps and traps and start evolving the music again.
YummY: So what’s next up for Mick Boogie? Are there any artists out there that you are just itching to work with?
Mick: I have some really cool projects coming up, but I don’t want to jinx them. However… definitely more travel is upcoming in my future.
YummY: What are your plans for this holiday season? What are you thankful for?
Mick: Some parties, some rest, and enjoying the spirit of the season. I’m thankful for my family, my blessings and especially my wife, Rana.
YummY: Lastly, what do you love about The Flypaper?
Mick: I love that someone from Ohio is taking the initiative in this new media world… Shouts out to Yogi!
