FLYVIEW w/ KID FAMOUS :: Q & A

Interview by NVus
One thing I love about my job is I get to chop it up with Artists on a daily. It’s always amazing to hear their stories on how they got started and broke into the industry. It’s so hard to be able to distinguish who the next rap star because as soon as one makes a hit here come’s another artist with the same hunger trying to push thier way into the game.
Toronto is home of many sports teams, but as you start to look around at the game there has been an emergence of rappers from T Dot. I recently had the chance to get up close and personal with a rising star in his own regards, KID FAMOUS. I asked FAMOUS a few questions check ‘em out below and if you didn’t know who the T Dot star was before this interview you will know by the end of it.
NVus :: What’s Really Good Famous?
KID FAMOUS :: Question is, what isn’t? Feel me? Maintaining. Trying to live up to this name and loving everyday of it.
NV :: How is life treating you?
KF :: Can’t complain. I’m in the best shape of my life. I wake up everyday and just thank the lord to be in this position. Hopefully the best is yet to come.
NV :: For our FlyPaper reader’s that aren’t familiar with you and where you
from give ‘em a lil run down.
KF :: I’m Famous. I Rap Now. I reside in Toronto. I left my Montreal suburban home at 18 to pursue a career in this biz. I’ve interned at Universal/Def Jam, worked at SonyBMG and am an on-air personality on Canada’s only commercial Hip Hop radio station. I started taking this rap thing serious in early ‘08 and since then have worked with DJ Whoo Kid, DJ Drama & Clinton Sparks, I opened for Nas in concert without even having a single on the radio, have 2 music videos charting nationwide, had national TV appearances, mentions in XXL, Hip Hop Weekly, Allhiphop, WSHH, Nahright and OnSmash etc. Other than that…I’m just a kid tryna make it!!!
NV :: Who do compare yourself to or what rapper do people say you remind them of?
FOR FOR INTERVIEW…
KF :: And I quote, “Kanye West meets Fabolos’ stylist with the determination of Ashton Bishop (me) and the mindset of Puffy in the 90’s”.
NV :: So…with the ‘I Rap Now EP’ circulating has this rap thing hit you
yet?…like you are really doing it Now.
KF :: Tell you the truth, its been years in the making. Those who work hard to get where they are appreciate the end results way more then the average. I’ve met, spoken and partied with the best of them and I’ve learned that there’s a bigger picture and until that level of success is achieved it’s just another hard days work. I use the attention as fuel.
NV :: So what’s been the response in the streets about the I Rap Now joint?
KF :: People are loving the concept, the image, the delivery and the music above all. It’s a real story that the general public can relate to. The evolution of The Kid…. turned Famous. The average consumer just sees the STAR or hears the ONE hit song. I’m trying to show people the STORY and what it takes to be Famous. People appreciate that and many use my story as inspiration.
NV :: There has been an emergence from Toronto rappers througout the last few
years….Why do you think that is and how are ya’ll diffrent than a
common American born rapper?
KF :: I think it’s more about the artist rather then Canadian or American. Each person has their own story and their way of delivering it. I think in the last few years the quality of Canadian music has definitely improved and with the help of new media outlets we are able to reach more people in more ways rather then just having BET define what’s cool. Plus, Kardinal Offishall being signed by Akon and having a Top 5 song on Billboard helps too, LoL.
NV :: So besides yourself who else can the people check out for that are from
T. Dot that your are co-signin?
KF :: Kardinal of coarse. My dude Tona, unique voice complimented with a great delivery. Mayhem Morearty gives you that true hood feel from a T.Dot state of mind. Blake Carrington, backback
flashy type lyricist. Trinity Chris, on the reggae tip dudes got it on smash and Kim Davis, need I say more?
NV :: I’m new to the whole bloggin world but do you think Blogs and websites
help or hurt New artists in your opinon?
KF :: To be honest, with the digital age taking over and the lack of support from major labels this is all we got as an Indie artist. It’s now up to the reader/listener to make their own judgements.
NV :: Since it’s around that time of the year I just wanted to ask what are
you Thankful for? What keeps Famous motivated?
KF :: To be honest my mom has been my greatest motivation as well as just the need to be “somebody”. Everything I have achieved thus far makes me work that much harder to become greater and give worth to myself as a human being.
NV :: Where can people check out some of your music or info about you?
KF :: Ohhhh, lol, this is the part about interviews I love the most because chances are the people who DO checkout any of the following sites will become interested in the story of the kid turned Famous.
Website: www.thekidfamous.com
I Rap Now Website: www.irapnow.com (EP available on iTunes)
Youtube Channel: www.youtube.com/thekidfamoustv
NV :: What’s next for Famous?
KF :: Only time can tell. When I got into this my goal was to put out quality music in an orderly fashion and stay true to myself. Imma keep doing me and hopefully these execs will wake-up and see the potential from the kid up north.
NV :: I Wanna thank you for taking the time to talk to the FlyPaper readers
any shout-outs or last words for the people?
KF :: - Shoutout to the entire Team FameUS. And no matter what you do….
