Boy I tell ya, you can’t have anything for black folks! It seems like things were gettin real down and dirty between Shawty Lo’s and T.I. camps at the 2008 Dirty Awards.  I thought that the beef was over between Shawty Lo and T.I.  I guess some men have to prove how tough they are.

Last night, Atlanta GA housed the 3rd annual Dirty Awards in the Georgia International Center. The awards were created to honor the South’s finest. Unfortunately, the South’s finest showed their ugly sides.

According to numerous sources and witnesses, the long brewing beef between T.I. and Shawty Lo reached a breaking point as both camp’s reportedly got into two separate physical altercations. Their seemingly squashed beef was brought back to life on this evening as initial reports state that things started to go the wrong way during Shawty Lo’s performance of the song “Don’t I” – which is seemingly a diss version of Grand Hustle artist Yung LA’s “Ain’t I.”

According to Shawty Lo, the diss song was prompted after several Grand Hustle artists made their way towards the stage earlier in Lo’s set.

“Basically, I didn’t start saying anything about Tip,” Lo explained to MTV. “I was performing my music. During ‘Foolish,’ all of them was coming in front of the stage doing their mugging. After ‘Dunn, Dunn,’ I performed the dis record ‘Don’t I.’ That’s what made perform the dis record. I ain’t gonna lie; they was disrespecting me. I wasn’t gonna let them disrespect me.”

Eyewitnesses say that Grand Hustle family member Alfamega tossed a chair on the stage in disgust during Shawty Lo’s set. Security rushed to prevent matters from escalating and the award show was suspended momentarily while order was maintained.

Backstage, T.I. and Shawty Lo ran into each other and had a closed door meeting to try to resolve their long standing issues. The two shook hands and it seemed that everything was good – for now.

The show resumed as both parties tended to their seats in peace. T.I. would take to the stage shortly after and the peace was broken yet again.

T.I. would initially denounce the negativity that took place earlier and proceeded to perform. This is when things got hectic.

He would break into the second verse of the song “Ain’t I” and all hell broke loose. Video seen by BET.com showed Grand Hustle artist Alfamega being pulled away and subsequently escorted out of the building by authorities while a short distance away a man reportedly from Shawty Lo’s camp was laid out on the floor. This would end the 3rd annual Dirty Awards for good as authorities sprayed the area with pepper spray in another attempt to restore order.

Although neither Shawty Lo nor T.I. were physically involved in either scuffle, what does this mean about their short lived truce?

“I don’t know, we’ll see,” Lo said to MTV. “[Me and Tip's conversation] ended on a positive note with the conversation. I don’t know where he is [with the beef]. I guess he just be talking. One thing about it, Shawty Lo ain’t no punk. T.I. is just a rapper. He knows how to read a book good. Where I live is for real. I ain’t got nothing against homes. He’s got family, I got family. I’m not trying to kill him, he’s not trying to kill me. I got fans that love me. He’s not not gonna run all over me. I ain’t Lil’ Flip.”

Although the building was evacuated, there were reports of more altercations that may have taken place outside of the building.

According to HipHopDX.com, another physical altercation between Young Jeezy’s CTE crew and DJ Drama’s Aphilliates camp took place as well.. A witness stated that Aphilliates President La The Darkman and his crew responded physically after Jeezy’s collective verbally taunted members of Darkman’s entourage. Five people were reportedly involved in the fight. No details on who – if anyone – was hurt or taken into custody after the fight.

The 2008 Dirty Awards were hosted by David Banner and were attended by the likes of Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em, Monica, Ludacris, Rick Ross and others
