I am so excited to post this because Hot 97’s voice of NY Angie Martinez is coming to BET with her new television special, The Angie Martinez Show.  She will show how far the conversations went with some of your favorite entertainers.   Angie has been in the game for about 14 years and in my opinion, it is about time for the whole world to see the skills of Angie Martinez! 

The 30-minute special, which will air on Monday, Nov. 24 at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT), will feature Angie interviewing Jay-Z, LL Cool J and singer-turn-J-Lo hubby Marc Anthony, as well as the behind the scenes footage that you don’t normally get to see on a talk show. “It’s a talk show, and it’s the making of a talk show,” she explains. “It is a very relaxed atmosphere where I talk to people. We’re not selling or promoting anything here. It’s a show about showcasing the artists we love in a comfortable atmosphere.”

Comfortable enough for Angie to chew gum? In a promo clip that was released to online websites and blogs today, Jay-Z tells Angie “I don’t know if you can talk with candy in your mouth?” Angie then asks, “tacky?” to which Jay responds “a little bit.”

But Angie says she doesn’t want her show to be like anybody else’s. And it’s that laid-back approach to interviewing that makes this show special. “Jay-Z is comfortable in this interview, and all of the interviews are like that,” she adds, before giving BET.com a heads up about Jay’s responses to one of her questions. “I asked him about his wedding and about having kids, and he rolled his eyes at me,” she laughs. “But he did tell me that he couldn’t sell his baby’s pictures to the tabloids when I asked him. He’s very private about his personal stuff.”

According to Angie, Jay-Z also details his songwriting process to her and goes into depth about his decision to campaign for Obama. “If you’re into Jay, you are going to like this interview.”

In addition to Jay-Z, Angie says that her time with Marc Anthony and LL Cool J was also well spent. “LL Cool J was so sincere, and I didn’t expect the interview to be as good as it was.” She adds that Marc Anthony will also be an unexpected surprise. “People in our community don’t know much about Marc Anthony outside of the fact that he’s J. Lo’s husband, but they’ll know him after this interview. He had to learn how to speak Spanish after he became a singer.”

Angie is looking forward to shooting the next interview special, which is currently in production. No official word as to who will be on the show just yet, but she’s hinted that’s she’d like to get an exclusive with Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey.
