Through out the years people have always asked the question..Will America ever have a Black President? I mean whether you say African American or Black the question was raised time and time again. Those same questions were addressed in different forms of media and entertainment, but you may or may not have realized it. I put together a Top 5 list of “Why you shouldn’t be surprised that we have a Black President”.
5. The Fifth Element was a comedy movie with flying taxis, street gangs and media overload. Bruce Willis starred in this 23rd century futuristic movie and one thing about the movie that may have been overlooked was the President of Earth was Black. Yes it was Debo from the Friday trilogy, Tiny Lester. Even though he didn’t have a major part in the movie it was still notable that the leader of the Earth was Black.
4. The popular hit TV Show ‘24′ starring Keifer Sutherland is another reason you shouldn’t be surprised that we now have a black president. Actor Dennis Haysbert, who played the President of the U.S. (David Palmer) on the show gave viewers some perspective on what it would be like to have an African American leader. The well known actor has contributed over $2,000 dollars to Obama’s campaign and has even said in an interview that he helped the President elect to get in office with his role he played on ‘24′.

3. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a big reason why you shouldn’t be surprised that we have a black President. Although he was never President, he had all the tools to become a President especially in this day in age. Martin moved crowds of people, all races came together as one to listen to a man speak that wasn’t even a Government official. His hard work and perseverance throughout his lifetime was a testament to all men and women to believe and live their dreams. If he wouldn’t have gotten killed, I’m sure he would have become leader of this country. Maybe even during this election.

2. Deep Impact, starring Morgan Freeman as the President of the United States is by far the closest depiction of the current situation at hand. The Sci-fi drama pent the U.S. against a comet that would destroy the world if it hit the Earth’s surface. He makes drastic decisions and you know the outcome. If you haven’t seen it I would hate to ruin it for you. As Barack takes the title of President of the U.S. we are still at war overseas it will be interesting to see what decison’s will be made in the next year or two.

1. Tupac’s song ‘Changes’ said it best or did it? Tupac says in the second verse of the song “And although it seems heaven sent, We ain’t ready, to see a Black President”. You may be saying to yourself how does that line mean I shouldn’t be surprised that we have a Black President? Well back when Tupac made this song we weren’t ready to see a black President but, now we are and ‘YOU’ the people are the ones that made it happen. Without people of every race coming together for a greater cause, Barack Obama would not be the President. Tupac was such a visonary and thus makes this line one of his greatest of all time.
