FLYPAPER & COMMUNITY PARTNERS CELEBRATE THE VICTORY OF THE VOTE
The spirit of change was alive as the sun arose on Tuesday morning. Masses gathered at their local polling places in unseasonably warm temperatures, each excited to exercise his/her right to vote. As the day went on and the polls began to close, another crowd began to form downtown at Club Ice.
Several major organizations partnered with FlyPaper for a free, non-partisan election night event, “Victory of the Vote.” A crowd of nearly 1,000 flooded the building for an evening of networking, mingling and celebrating the vote. Camaraderie was at an all-time high as young professionals were treated to free food, giveaways and live jazz performed by the Liquid Crystal Project. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet with local politicians including Senator Ray Miller and City Council Members Kevin Boyce and Priscilla Tyson. Each political figure presented words of encouragement about the importance of this election and our future as both Americans and Ohioans. Major media outlets were also present for the event. Representatives from The Columbus Dispatch and Channel 10 News interviewed attendees, getting a first-hand account on the events of the evening. BET provided live coverage throughout the night, as “Victory of the Vote” was the place to be in the battleground state of Ohio.
