Thank goodness for the Columbus blogs who inform people of the good things that happen in this city. All you see is craziness on the news and this is like a breath of fresh air.
First let me say that as part of the city’s young professional groups and commitees, I’m always advocating for our city to bid for another professional sports team (basketball especially). If you want to make the CO a major metropolitan city that competes with the best than you have to bring that star appeal to the city. And the signs are showing it. [This bit of news doesn’t surprise me. Although Columbus only has two major professional sports teams in the Blue Jackets and The Crew, our enthusiasm for sports is huge. Since Columbus is the biggest city in Ohio we support Cleveland and Cincinnati’s professional teams with vigor. The Indians, Reds, Browns and Bengals’ biggest fans live in Columbus. Not to mention that Buckeye Nation is arguably the most supported college program in the country. So Columbus edging out Boston, Pittsburgh, Chicago and New York as the biggest sports town in the nation doesn’t surprise me one bit.]
