Hurricane Ike Beats Down on Texas
The world is watching as yet another hurricane brings devastation to the lower half of the U.S. Hurricane Ike is currently rushing through Texas, leaving debris and high water in its path.
The Category 1 storm blew through Galveston in the early hours of the morning causing extreme flooding and sparking fires. Houston was affected later in the morning as Ike caused power outages for 4 million customers, took down traffic lights, shook buildings, and blew out close to 50% of the windows in the lower half of the JP Morgan Chase Tower; the tallest building in Texas.

In addition to the heavy debris that clutters the street, it is suspected that the water supply in Houston may be contaminated. Officials are urging residents to drink bottled water or boil tap water.
Houston and Galveston residents are being cautioned against returning home. Curfews have been put into effect in both cities. Ike has now moved through the coastal cities and is heading inland.
Our prayers are with all of those that are in the path of this storm.
