Barack Obama DNC Acceptance Speech Denver August 28th, 2008 Barack Obama at National Convention 2008

POST by Big Yogi
For those of you that are of my generation who often search for that defining moment that will be etched into the history books forever…that moment is upon us. Yes we have had wars that have cost us thousands of lives, we may have had financial troubles our country hasn’t seen in years, but all of those things have happened in the past. This one thing, this one moment in life, this one moment in history has never happened before and may never happen again.
Yesterday marked the 45th anniversary of the legendary “I have a dream” speech given by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His most memorable speech to date. Yesterday also marked the first time an African American addressed the nation as the Democratic Presidential Candidate. Yes please believe it Barack Obama gave a great speech, made history, and did it in style. over 84 thousand people were in attendence at the Democratic National Convention last nite and millions of people watched from Home. Barack spoke on many issues he feels need attention from the economy and violence, to the war and keeping jobs in America. The crowd was in an uproar every time Obama made a statement and he made them with great confidence.
As a young African-American male, this moment in history means alot to me and I believe it means even more to African American men as a whole more than anyone else. The current situation for African American men is very challenging because how the public and the media portray us. Many African American males from my generation and after do not believe in the American Dream because of what history has shown us. Every time a Black leader or leaders emerge, the system has taken them out one way or another, leaving many black men afraid or discouraged to be leaders in their community. This could be a good turning point for many of us. So let’s get out and vote.
So for all of the Flypaper readers who did not get a chance to see his great speach we got it for you right here.

WATCH, DISCUSS, and VOTE!
