Robert McClendon

Post by T Cole contact flytcole@flyapaperblog.com

Robert McClendon, 52, was released from prison yesterday after spending 18 years there for the 1990 rape and kidnapping of a young female relative.  August 21, 1991 McClendon was sentenced to 15 years to life for the crime, and has maintained his innocence the entire time.  After his 2004 request for DNA testing was ignored, he finally received a glimmer of hope from The Ohio Innocence Project recently. They compared DNA from the victims underwear to McClendon’s and found no match, a seemingly simple solution that has evaded McClendon for nearly two decades. Franklin County Prosecuter, Ron O’brien did not challenge the DNA results and worked with Judge Charles A. Schneider to free McClendon. McClendon has five children and a hosts of grandchildren and other family who have welcomed him home with open arms.  Read the full story

FP sends an elated CONGRATULATIONS to Robert McClendon and his family!!
