Do you remember the Power Rangers? Well a former Power Rangers TV star has tried to chop off his ’special sword’ with a razor blade while awaiting trial for a double murder.

According to LA news site ktla.com, the 29-year-old Skylar Deleon was rushed to hospital after the episode.

“Somehow he got hold of a razor blade and tried to saw off his penis, but didn’t complete the job,” said Damon Micalizzi, a spokesman for California’s Orange County Jail, where Deleon is awaiting trial over the murder of a couple at sea in 2004.

“He was unsuccessful,” Mr Micalizzi said.

“As I understand it, there was a lot of blood.”

The organ was reattached.

According the ktla.com Micalizzi did not know if Deleon stopped the effort himself or was interrupted by a guard.

The former child TV star is in custody after allegedly travelling with three other men on a test cruise witha couple in their 55-foot yacht, which they hoped to sell.

Prosecutors allege the group blindfolded and handcuffed the couple once at sea and forced them to sign over documents transferring ownership of the vesel, before tossing them overboard.

Their bodies have not been found.
