The New Yorker in POOR Taste

The New Yorker’s tasteless attempt at satire has not gone over well with the public. The cover, published Sunday, shows Obama in the Oval Office dressed in traditional Muslim attire. His wife, Michelle, wears an Afro hairstyle and has a machine gun slung over her back. An American flag can be seen burning in the fireplace, and a picture of Osama bin Laden hangs on the wall. Their attempted explanation to the Obama camp was ” that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Sen. Obama’s right-wing critics have tried to create.”
The New Yorker stated in an email to CNN on Friday, “Please note that it is satire — we are poking fun at the scare tactics and misinformation that some have employed to derail Obama’s campaign.” On sight it appears the magazine may share some of those same beliefs. Even John McCain’s spokesperson agreed with Obama spokesman Bill Burton in that this attempt at satire is both “tasteless and offensive.” This, like the art exhibit we reported on last month, is not only unacceptable abuse of free speech, it borders on defamation of character. I wonder if the New Yorker is an affiliate of FOX News????
