Sean Bell’s Family Seeks Justice
POST by Mo
One day after three NYPD detectives were found not guilty of the tragic slaying of Sean Bell, the family is pledging to continue their fight. Today Bell’s family, joined by Reverend Al Sharpton and hundreds of supporters, marched through the streets of Harlem to protest the injustice. Fifty of the marchers carried large white signs with black numbers written on the them to represent each shot that was fired at Bell and his friends. The family now plans to proceede with civil charges. Bell’s fiancée, Nicole Paultre Bell was quoted as saying:
“I’m still praying for justice, because it’s not over. It’s far from over. It’s just starting”
In November, 2006 an unarmed Sean Bell and two of his friends were gunned down by police officers just hours before Bell’s wedding was to occur. Bell’s friends, Trent Benefield and Joseph Guzman survived the shooting.
It is our hope that there will be resolution to this senseless tragedy. The staff at FlyPaper will continue to keep Sean Bell’s family in our prayers.
