NVus: What’s Really Good, Nicki?
Nicki Minaj: I’m feeling pretty GOOD, got some good hed last night so you already know I’m feeling ready to start my day.
NVus: What’s good with the deal? Are you signed to Young Money?
Nicki Minaj: Everything is looking good so far. The business side is papers need to be worked out and all that..The Ink is still drying..but it’s Young Money/Dirty Money All Day
NVus: What artists have you worked with and what artists are looking to work with?
Nicki Minaj: What’s funny is I worked with Lil’ Wayne & Jadakiss and those are two of my favorite artists. I have always looked up to the JadaKiss & Lil’ Wayne. When I first met Wayne he had already heard my demo and loved it. JadaKiss heard the “Dirty Money Biz” track and couldn’t get it out his head. He called up Fendi (Dirty Money CEO) and said, “I need that instrumental; I want to get on that track!” I called Jada and was like, “don’t bullshit with me, you really want to get on the track?”. Next thing you know…well you hear it. So I have already worked with artists that I love & I’m getting calls from artists who want to be featured on my songs… I’m gettin things poppin
NVus: Do you model, also?
Nicki Minaj : People think I model but I’m just a Bad Bitch… people want me to model but I rap before anything.
NVus: So when can we see Nicki Minaj on tour?
Nicki Minaj: Real soon…real soon. The thing is, I want people to see me for me. I don’t want to be in Wayne’s shadow. I want the opportunity to shine on my own. But you can expect to see me on tour with Wayne very soon.
READ THE REST OF THE INTERVIEW…
NVus: What can your fans expect out of the “Sucka Free” Mixtape?
Nicki Minaj : Sucka Free is my best mixtape yet. It’s crack, stupid, sick, insane..I mean the skills, the swagger..It’s crazy! If you heard my last mixtape, “Playtime is Over,” than you will LOVE the new joint.
NVus: Where can we pick that mixtape up at?
Nicki Minaj: You can get it off my mySpace page: myspace/nickiminaj -You can buy it there and you will receive an autographed copy of “Sucka Free” also. I know a lot of dudes will be on there looking and purchasing the “Jerk Off” Poster..l(laughs) I hate to say it but even some young boys will lose their virginity because of that poster…but hey, “sex sells”. Now ask yourself, with Jerk off material, who wouldn’t want to fantasize about being with me?
NVus: I read in a previous interview that a lot of females don’t write their own raps, how do you feel about that?
Nicki Minaj: First off, I write my own raps…When it comes to writing, I have always loved English. I have written stories & essays…shit like that, so I have always been on top of my own writing. A lot of females sell themselves short…I don’t. If your raps are hot or wack, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is as long as you write your own raps, at the end of the day, they can’t take that away from you. It’s somewhat of a compliment when people ask if I write my own rhymes… I must be doing something right… I got the same shit in my brain as a dude…I lived the streets, I know all about the streets, so why wouldn’t be able to write my own shit?
Nobody eating off my publishing but me. I believe in myself and in my capabilities. I would never degrade myself and have someone else write my raps. I write my rhymes on the spot as soon as I get in the studio. Can’t nobody tell me shit when I’m the studio with my rhymes in hand standing next to Weezy, the Best Rapper Alive.
NVus: At the end of the day, when you lay it down what are your feelings on Nicki Minaj? Like how do you feel about your accomplishments?
Nicki Minaj: What makes me feel good at the end of the day? Hmmm…There are so many things I have to prove to myself…like putting out an album (in stores) & acting. I won’t feel complete until those things happen…feel me.
Also making my mother proud is big, too. I come from a crazy household. I’m from the hood and just because you get out the hood, doesn’t mean you get out of the hood mentality. My mom’s went through a lot, seeing my father punching the walls and even burning the house down…crazy. For me to be this far, I’m proud of what I have accomplished. My mom and my struggle is what gives me the strength to make it out of here (the hood). I have a track on “Sucka Free” called “Autobiography” check that out…it gives you the open door to my life. People get caught up in the ‘SEXY” or “seductive” Minaj but that’s just one of my layers…feel me.
I want to prove to the world, but more importantly to myself, that a lil’ girl out of Jamaica, Queens can be bigger than Lil’ Kim or Foxy Brown. The game is so male motivated and Nicki Minaj is here to change all that.
NVus: It’s been real good talking with ya, Nicki. Good luck, hopefully we can do this again real SOON! Any Shout outs?
Nicki Minaj: Shout out to of course to Flypaperblog, you, NVus, I had fun! Dirty Money, Young Money, Fendi, Wayne, All My fans & My Fam…Sterling, Sickamore & The Famous Firm.
Also I know it’s hard to latch on to something new and I appreciate the Love, NV…But it’s time for the Old Bitches to step down…Shout out to all the Old Bitches, but it’s time for the New Bitches to take over…Make Room.
