Falcons “Dunn” with Warrick

Post by T Cole
The Atlanta Falcons released Runningback Warrick Dunn, at his request, today. This comes just one day after the franchise signed free agent Micheal Turner (whose contract is worth $34.5 million with $15 mil guaranteed). Dunn, 33 has accomplished plenty in his 11-year NFL career, including three straight 1, 000-yard seasons, three Pro Bowl appearances, and the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2004. He was also the 22nd runningback in NFL history to rush for 10,000 yards. He also holds the record for the longest touchdown run in Falcons history.
He finishes his sixth season with the Falcons as the 3rd leading rusher for the franchise with 5, 979 yards for them. There is speculation that he will be picked up by the Detroit Lions who are in search of an experienced back. Dunn is viewed as a very viable asset even after his drop in production last season (720 yards), which some experts attribute to the Michael Vick trial and Bobby Petrino drama. He is also rumored to have caught the interest of the Houston Texans. Dunn, who is known for his charity work as well as his athletic talent, has made no formal statement to date. NFL teams began shopping the 320 free agents available on Friday. FP will keep you posted!
