Beyonce gets her “role” on

Beyonce

TV Guide has reported that the role of legendary jazz singer Etta James in the 1950’s based drama, Cadiallac Records is going to be played by none other than Beyonce Knowles.  The movie is based on the founding of Chess Records and also casts Adrien Brody (who plays Chess, the leading record exec), Jeffrey Wright (plays singer Muddy Waters),  Cedric the Entertainer (plays singer Willie Dixon), and Columbus Short (plays singer Little Walter).

The film will follow the life of Chess (Brody) who ran the label with his brother in the 1950’s and ’60’s.  There is speculation that B will have to do a total body transformation to portray the full-figured James.  She is no stranger to the idea since she dropped 20 lbs for her last role as Deena Jones in Dreamgirls, a role which earned her two Golden Globe nominations.  There is no release date for the film.
