Orlando Magic Superstar Dwight Howard claimed his first career Slam dunk title tonight in the N.O with a array of creativity, originality, imagination and swagger.
It was a showase of new talent in the NBA, with a panel full of legends and former slam dunk kings judging the show; Magic, Dr. J, Dominique, The Mailman, and Mr. Backboard Breaker himself, Daryl Dawkins.
Howard started the night off with a behind the backboard banger we’ve never seen before, which is rare. The dunk earned Dwight the first of three consecutive 50 point scores on the night.
The contest was a royal flush for Dwight Howard when he hopped into the phone booth and put on his superman outfit. The big fella took off just inside the free throw line off two feet…two! on top of that, he didn’t even dunk it, he just threw the ball threw the basket like it was nothin.
Gerald Green pulled a rabbit out the hat when he put the cupcake on the back of the rim, lit a candle, and blew it out in mid-air before he banged with two hands! but it wasn’t enough.
It was definately a fantastic night, and it’s safe to say that the dunk contest is back. The Magic man has set the bar high, so I suggest that next year you cats come with your A+ game and nothing less.
